The Business Travel Magazine has teamed up with the ITM's CSR initiative, Project ICARUS, to present the case for tackling CSR. The supplement was produced on 100% recyclyed paper and is also available online.

No one will pretend that it’s easy to embrace Corporate Social Responsibility. With the credit crunch in the UK and seeming economic meltdown worldwide, introducing recycling, greening your supply chain or reducing your carbon footprint will seem like a very tall order and way down on your list of priorities.

But there are economic imperatives for this to take place as there is a distinct correlation between CSR, sustainability and business performance. Get your bosses to prick up their ears. The government is urging businesses to look at CSR as an investment rather than an expense and making that case is quite simple.

Not every company has the luxury of green committees, security departments or the resource or budget to get consultants in to work out the right strategy. But the bottom line is that your company can save money and help save the planet by reducing carbon emissions! It can hold its head high as a good corporate citizen and enjoy benefits such as lower recruitment costs from the higher staff retention levels you will attain by being a good employer.

One thing that cannot be ignored are your legal requirements in this regard. The Health & Safety At Work Act has now been augmented by the Corporate Manslaughter & Homicide Act and any business ignoring the requirements of duty of care to employees will do so at their peril.

It is one reason why The Business Travel Magazine has teamed up with the ITM's CSR initiative, Project ICARUS, to present the case for tackling CSR in this supplement.

The supplement, will, we hope, provide you with the answers to how to begin the process, how others have already done so, and how technology can help.
